First session lessons for beginners

Phase 1

Wet Dreams Kite Instructor with a student on the beachThe first steps towards this amazing sport need to be taken in total safety, starting with the basic theoretical notions of the dynamics of wind. This is applied with a trainer kite (small kite) to then move onto the proper gear. In this way the student is prepared and taught the proper beach handling. (the place where most accidents can happen) for his and bystanders well being.

  • Theory: The wind window, the flying characteristics of the kite, understanding the spot
  • Practical: set up and safe handling of the kite on the ground, control system and emergency releases and rescue.

Phase 2 **

Wet Dreams Kite Instructor with a student in the waterOnly after having acquired a good control of the kite on land will the student move to the water. With his private instructor (always close to his student in the water) the student will learn flying technique with the kite in body drag. This phase is a very important step and occurs in a safe environment without obstacles. After having acquired the necessary skills to manage the board and the kite in the water, the student proceeds to the final stage of the lesson, which is the water start.

  • Practical: kite control with 4 or 5 line kites, launching, landing, downwind body drag, riding, upwind in body drag, re-launch of the kite from the water, water start, self rescue
